Common Reasons to Get a Liver Profile Test

  • To detect early signs of liver problems
Liver disease can progress silently. This test can reveal abnormal liver enzyme levels before symptoms appear.
  • To monitor existing liver conditions
Conditions such as hepatitis, fatty liver, or cirrhosis require regular testing to track liver health and function.
  • To assess the effects of medications, alcohol or toxins
Many medications, herbal supplements, and alcohol can harm the liver. This test helps catch any early signs of liver stress.
  • To investigate unexplained symptoms
Symptoms like fatigue, yellowing of the skin (jaundice), nausea, or abdominal discomfort can be linked to liver issues.
  • To evaluate how well your liver is functioning overall
Liver function affects digestion, energy production, protein synthesis, and detoxification — all vital for health.
  • To guide treatment or lifestyle changes
Abnormal results can inform next steps: changing medications, diet, or further testing with a specialist.

Popular Questions

FAQ list that we hope will help answer some of the more common queries

Do I need to stop taking my supplements or medications before the test?

No, you should not discontinue any of your current medications or supplements. Instead make sure to include your medication and supplement history in any questionnaires that may be included at Folacare clinic. If you have questions about a specific medication, please email info@iksanika.com and we’ll gladly answer any questions.

Is the Food Sensitivity test suitable for children?

At this time, we do not currently offer testing to minors because we aren’t able to irrefutably validate the guardianship of that minor. Folacare and our Doctor’s Network take these matters very seriously and as a result, we cannot offer our testing for anyone under the age of 18.

How long does the testing process take?

Once your blood sample is taken, your sample package will be securely couriered to our laboratory within 1-8 hours on business days or with 24-48 if samples taken on weekends. Once your sample reaches the lab, your results may be available online that day* and definitely within one/two business day.

How accurate are my results?

Folacare partners with some of the most prominent INAB-certified labs in the country that conduct specialty testing. These labs perform regular quality assurance testing and are the same labs many doctors, GPs and HSE hospitals use to perform their testing. If you want to find out more about their validation processes, please email us at info@iksanika.com

What is cut off age for taking blood sample?

You must be at least 16 years of age and under 75 years to give a blood sample.

* For blood samples taken before 12:00AM
