Common Reasons to Get a Full Blood Count (FBC) Test

  • General health screening
FBC is often part of a routine check-up to detect early signs of health issues, even when you have no symptoms.
  • Understanding symptoms
If you’re experiencing fatigue, persistent weakness, unexplained bruising, or fever, this test can help identify potential causes.
  • Monitoring existing conditions
If you have a chronic illness that affects blood cell levels — such as autoimmune disease or a bone marrow disorder — FBC can track changes over time.
  • Tracking treatment effects
If you’re receiving medications or therapies (e.g. chemotherapy or immunosuppressants) that may impact your blood, this test helps monitor your response and safety.

Popular Questions

FAQ list that we hope will help answer some of the more common queries

Do I need to stop taking my supplements or medications before the test?

No, you should not discontinue any of your current medications or supplements. Instead make sure to include your medication and supplement history in any questionnaires that may be included at Folacare clinic. If you have questions about a specific medication, please email info@iksanika.com and we’ll gladly answer any questions.

Is the Food Sensitivity test suitable for children?

At this time, we do not currently offer testing to minors because we aren’t able to irrefutably validate the guardianship of that minor. Folacare and our Doctor’s Network take these matters very seriously and as a result, we cannot offer our testing for anyone under the age of 18.

How long does the testing process take?

Once your blood sample is taken, your sample package will be securely couriered to our laboratory within 1-8 hours on business days or with 24-48 if samples taken on weekends. Once your sample reaches the lab, your results may be available online that day* and definitely within one/two business day.

How accurate are my results?

Folacare partners with some of the most prominent INAB-certified labs in the country that conduct specialty testing. These labs perform regular quality assurance testing and are the same labs many doctors, GPs and HSE hospitals use to perform their testing. If you want to find out more about their validation processes, please email us at info@iksanika.com

What is cut off age for taking blood sample?

You must be at least 16 years of age and under 75 years to give a blood sample.
