Common Reasons to Get a Fertility Plus Test

  • To evaluate ovulation and cycle regularity
Measuring LH, FSH, estradiol, and progesterone helps determine if and when ovulation is occurring. Irregular levels can indicate conditions like PCOS or luteal phase defects that interfere with fertility.
  • To assess ovarian reserve and egg quality
AMH and FSH levels give insights into how many eggs remain in the ovaries and how responsive they are to stimulation — especially important for women over 30 or considering IVF or egg freezing.
  • To detect hormonal imbalances affecting conception
Imbalances in estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone can disrupt cycle rhythm, implantation, and egg development. Identifying these helps target the right treatment.
  • To check thyroid function that influences fertility
Elevated prolactin may suppress ovulation, while excess testosterone or DHEA-S can indicate PCOS or other hormone-related disorders impacting egg quality.
  • To support assisted reproductive treatments
Accurate hormone profiling is essential before IUI, IVF, or other fertility therapies. It helps time treatment protocols and evaluate success likelihood.
  • To provide a baseline before trying to conceive
Testing your hormone levels even before TTC (trying to conceive) offers a clear picture of your fertility health — especially if you’ve been on contraception or have a complex cycle history.

Popular Questions

FAQ list that we hope will help answer some of the more common queries

Do I need to stop taking my supplements or medications before the test?

No, you should not discontinue any of your current medications or supplements. Instead make sure to include your medication and supplement history in any questionnaires that may be included at Folacare clinic. If you have questions about a specific medication, please email info@iksanika.com and we’ll gladly answer any questions.

Is the Food Sensitivity test suitable for children?

At this time, we do not currently offer testing to minors because we aren’t able to irrefutably validate the guardianship of that minor. Folacare and our Doctor’s Network take these matters very seriously and as a result, we cannot offer our testing for anyone under the age of 18.

How long does the testing process take?

Once your blood sample is taken, your sample package will be securely couriered to our laboratory within 1-8 hours on business days or with 24-48 if samples taken on weekends. Once your sample reaches the lab, your results may be available online that day* and definitely within one/two business day.

How accurate are my results?

Folacare partners with some of the most prominent INAB-certified labs in the country that conduct specialty testing. These labs perform regular quality assurance testing and are the same labs many doctors, GPs and HSE hospitals use to perform their testing. If you want to find out more about their validation processes, please email us at info@iksanika.com

What is cut off age for taking blood sample?

You must be at least 16 years of age and under 75 years to give a blood sample.

* For blood samples taken before 12:00AM
